I am curently an MK3, thinking about changing rates to AMT. I was wondering about the airman program. How are you assigned what air station you will go to? Also, will you return to that station after school? Thanks

since you are an mk3 youll stay an mk3 until the end of "A" school. airman program is pretty simple, get line crew qualified then complete ur airman syllibus, it only takes about a month or so..

They usually send you to the closest air station to your current unit for the airman program. You don't generally return to that station unless it's available when you pick your billets at A school. It's pretty rare that I've seen airman go back to the same unit they did their AN program at but it does happen from time to time.

Here in P.A. we've had it happen 2-3 times in the 2 years I've been here. But like Moto said it all depends on whats available when you are in school. I believe it also has somewhat to do with your merit in school but I'm not sure.
