does anybody know if it possible join coast guard as AMT or AET, and be red/green color blind ? Also how long is wait for AMT A School ? and if you don't go right away do you serve for sometime then go ? How the whole thing works ?
I don't know the specifics about school waiting lists or the current status of the airman program, but I'm sure you need normal color perception for any aircrew (AET, AMT, AST) position. Requirements for Class 2 Aircrew Candidates start here: http://www.uscg.mil/directives/cim/6000-6999/CIM_6410_3.pdf on the bottom of page 1-13. It says that "aircrew candidates shall meet the standards of Class 1" (page 1-14). The Class 1 standard for color perception is on page 1-9, point n. Hope this helps.
