anybody know the current demand for AMT's, wait for A school, any guaranteed slots for new enlistment? typically how long is the wait for A school after you first put in your request once enlisted (after the initial 4 months) thanks for any info!
The overall wait changes from month to month, but as a for instance I've been waiting 9 months since I put my name on the list and have my sea service ribbon. If its what you want to do you have to be stubborn and wait it out and not just choose a fast moving rate, choose your rate choose your fate. Of course if your a highly motivated individual and depending on your station you can strike a rate while waiting.
good to know, did you get your aviation physical yet? I think I want to try to get that before enlisting just to make sure I would qualify. Is the AMT school pretty popular and therefore it takes a while to get in? Also I saw you have to have at least 30 months left of active duty to get into A school. How flexable are they when adding active duty time? Can you add 6 mon./ year or is a larger time block?
Below is the latest A school wait list times. The format got changed when I pasted but you can still decipher it. AMT is less than 6 mos with the next 3 class being 1 in April and 2 in May.
i hope that is right but i dont see two classes starting 25MAY09 maybe. i will be waiting on my orders and it doesnt matter if it is 3 months or 12 months i will just deal with it
