I used to be a AMT on Falcons. I was in the 3rd class when they changed over from ad, am and started the airmen program. I am a reservist right now and went to Mk school. That was fun, 3 months of MK school after already doing 5 months AMT school. So when I re enlisted into the reserves I was guided that direction because I was told I would have to go re enlist, put my name on the list and then go to Amt school again. Its funny because you would have thought I got booted out or something. I talk to my friends at the airsta and they tell me all the time how there hurting for bodies and qualified crewmen. then I hear something opposite from the recruiters, I heard its all full right now. So here I am a MK/AMT wondering if it will be possible to go back to the aviation world. by the way if you go reserves, go Mk, all the rbs - 25's are under GSA contract so other then saying its broken, RTB and checking the oil thats about it as a reservist. You get to do all the cool boardings instead. I know I just rambled on but I figured I would throw this out there and see what other peoples thoughts are. Thank you

Of course if you get mobilized and deployed somewhere you may not have a civilian company available to do the repair.....and you as an MK won't have a clue how to fix the problem.
Why would one want to become an MK when what they really want is to do boardings? MK seems to suggest one has their major interest in working on machinery. Even prior to the ME rating I would have thought BM would be the way to go.
Should you become an AMT again your boarding days would be over, right? So what exactly is it that you want to do? Fly, work on machinery or do boardings? Just curious.....
