I was told by the ARNG recruiter that the guard is only processing prior service into their previusly held MOS. Being that I was Air Force Security Police, I was told I can only enlist as MP.
My question being:
He said I will have to attend WTC, but no AIT or MOSQ course, since I already held a similar MOS in the AF.

Is this true?

Thanks in advance!

Road- I could see this being true as the ARNG is meeting their recruiting quotas lately. I am sure you would just go to Warrior transition. The ARNG kinda being picky right now like AD AF is in their recruiting efforts cause of meeting recruiting goals. I am in the ARNG myself hoping to reclass to MP after deployment.

Any current MP National Guard soldiers on here that can tell what to expect on weekend drills and 2-week annual training?

Also when deployed are Guard MP units mission specific, for example do some units just do EPW missions, while others do convoy ops or law and order missions?

Any info would be appreciated.

That USED to be true. The USAF SF training is no longer equivalent to Army MP training and will NOT get you the 31B(MP) MOS. If your recruiter is telling you it is, ask him to double check and get it in writing that you will NOT have to attend an MOS-T(Military Occupational Specialty-Transition) course. The MP MOS-T course is 4 weeks long, broken into 2, 2-week phases and you will not be MOS qualified without attending it. There are no bonuses right now, so that's not a big deal, but if you're not able to attend additional training, or don't want to, this is a concern for you.

As for the part about only being allowed to come in to a former MOS, that doesn't sound right to me...I was a recruiter and I'm currently the Military Police Subject Matter Expert Cell NCOIC for the ARNG. If I can help, let me know.

On deployments, shoot me something offline and I can send you some info on what to expect. Stay safe.
