Back in '91, while going through Basic (non-MP), my Ship out date for AIT was October 31st, it started to snow. I was there when it went from 100 plus degrees to about 70 degrees in one week. We wore M65 Field Jackets, BDU Caps, Black leather gloves with wool inserts, BDUS, and Black Boots when it got cold.....the troops now, got it easy....Goretex, ACUs, Tan boots (no shining), M16A2s.....we had M16A1s. You'll do all right......because the Thousands before you had it a lot worse!
No GoreTex during training, and we still have the stupid leather gloves with wool liners...that do nothing to keep your hands warm. The new field jackets are a lot like the M65's. Pretty warm, but not awsome...bulky. At least we had polypros....those can help.
I went through Ft. Leonardwood, Misery for boot camp and went through Ft. Gordon, GA for MP school. 95B10 training. Keep in mind photo's don't depict actual situations. A photo is merely a fraction of a second in time. You'll experience alot of things the photo's don't show. LOL The book the Army sold us at completion of our Boot Camp showed movie theaters, the swimming pool, bowling, etc.......but did we see any of it ?? LOL NOPE Good luck buddy, and THANKS FOR SERVING.
