No. You have to serve as an MP for a while before being selected.

You have to be in grades E-4 thru E-7 to attend the school as well as be selected as Gumby said, so I would say no. Good luck.

Are you going to pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

At my old Reserve Military Police Company, only two of us were V5s (MP Investigators).

Curt and I both attended the course while on Active Duty. I never heard of the course being offered to anyone at the Reserve unit. It may not be possible, though there are Army National Guard CID agents. That's a possibility to strive for.

Good luck!

No, it's absolutely possible to go to MPI while in the Guard or Reserve, I've seen it. Now, going to the school and actually performing MPI functions in the USAR or ARNG are two different things. If you're looking to do investigations on the Reserve Component side of the house, you could go 31B(MP), then go Warrant Officer a few years later(CID). The criteria to become a warrant has really changed a lot due to the shortage and it's easier than it used to be to go that route.

Be prepared to deploy OFTEN if you go CID though. More than line company MP's from my experience. Good luck.
