I took the asvab and qualified for an mp job. My recruiter then tells me that I am not able to get the job anymore due to a reckless driving violation that happened when I was a juvenile. But she is telling me I can still be a corrections officer. I am trying to be an mp, not corrections. Is it true that 1 minor traffic violation will disqualify you, or is the recruiter full of bs because there are no mp spots available??? I need help on what I should do.
I am just looking for answers, not for someone to argue with me. Technically it is a minor criminal offense. But it is a traffic violation. If anyone has any info please let me know
Couple of things here: First, exactly how old were you at the time of the offense and in what state did this occur? Unless you were under 16(shouldn't have been driving anyway), then it's not usually considered a "juvenile" offense.
Second, the pre-requisities to be a 31B and a 31E are very similar, with the main exception being you have to have a HIGHER ST score on the ASVAB to be an I.R Specialist(31E).
Not saying your recruiter is BS'ing you, just saying the pre-req's are very similar and as far as legal violations go, ONE Reckless Driving charge that's been adjudicated shouldn't disqualify you from either.
BLUF: If you only want to be an MP, don't settle for I/R Specialist. Good luck.

In what state did it occur? Reckless Driving in Illinois is a Class A Misdemeanor, punishable up to a year in jail and up to a $2500.00 fine.
