ha ha ha........thats a question you need to ask your recruiter. I took boot camp at Ft. Leonarwood from June 2, 1970 thru August 7, 1970. The 4th of July fell in this time period and even though Viet Nam was still going, we were allowed 3 days leave to go home if we wanted. We got $85.00 a month as a E-1 and not many could afford a plane ticket home. We took buses back then. I was in C-3-3. Good Luck, and Merry Christmas.
