Just wanted to ask you guys how on earth you live with yourselves for busting Joe's chops. You are the rats of the Army and nazi's with radar guns. Yes, I m out now- but I couldn't figure out how you guys slept at night. Lots of Ambien I guess.

Sounds like someone's got a chip on their shoulder. Nazi's with radar guns? There's a cure for that...(wait for it)... NOT SPEEDING!!

As far as sleeping; how do 1SGs, or any other NCOs, sleep after negative counselings? How do Commanders sleep after taking stripes?
In my experience as an MP, most chop-busting was a direct consequence of a Joe's actions that he either did or should have know better about to begin with.

If it is the manner in which this chop-busting occurs that concerns you (lack of tact, nit-picking, overzealousness, etc.) I have to say that is by far not unique to the MP Corps.

Isn't it amazing?
Everyone you ever stop for speeding, was going the speed limit.
Everyone you ever arrested, was innocent, a pillar of the community.
It's something they teach in MP SChool and Police Academies.

Q: Don't you have anything better to be doing?
A: Yes. I do.

Q: Why don't you go catch a REAL criminal?
A: Because, that's too dangerous.

Q: Can't you give me a warning?
A: OK. I'm warning you. If you speed again, I'll give you another ticket.

Instead of Goodbye, Drive Safely, Have a Nice Day, I like to throw in the occasional, "Catch you later..."

I am sure his conversation with the MP involved a lot of the same words he used in his post.

I never worked L/O as an MP, but as a civilian cop the public thinks the same of us. Actually the average citizen likes cops you till they get a ticket-then they hate you. Give them a parking ticket and they are ready to kill someone.

Nope. I just lay my head down on the pillow and close my eyes. No medication or anything else needed.

I usually sleep on my side. My wife gets mad though because sometimes, I drool a little too much. Sometimes, I rool over to the other side, but the window is there and it gets cool at night. So, I sleep on my back, but this does not work too well because then I start to snore. Really disturbes my wife. I kick the blankets off sometimes too, because it gets too hot. And, finally on those nights when I'm really feeling my oats, I sleep NAK.....

We got the K cars at Ft Myer('81-'82).
When I went to AFPD at the Washington Navy Yard(82-'84), we had four Avis Fleet Rental Pontiac J-6000s. (all we did was put the emblems on them, they came with radios, light bars, cages, etc. Fully equipped patrol cars) Under the hood they had a supercharged V-6. Those cars would fly!!

I had an 84 Dodge Diplomat Detectives car till a few years ago. Cops would stop and salivate looking at the engine. I guess compared to what they have now, it was considered a real engine. Only had a 318, but everything was heavy duty. Paid $500 for it in 95, and the AC still worked. Only problem I ever had with it was the computer controlled carberator. It was no problem blowing the cobs out of it, it would easily do 100mph on the back roads.

I live at a mile altitude. The lack of air really sucks the horsepower from a motor.

We drove Crown Victorias with 302s and two barrel carbs for years. Those cars couldn't get out of their own way. And, the suspension sucked. When you got much over 65, they got light on the springs and would drift around. Scary!! They did have good ground clearance though. You could drive over a median without scraping the entire undercarriage.

Then we got Caprices. 350s and four barrels. What a suprise for our local speeders. I've got a great video where I chased down a stolen Meredes. He couldn't believe I caught him. When he couldn't shake me, he just pulled over. My Sergeant told him, "you shouldn't try to out drive a Pursuit Driving Instructor." The only drawback on the Caprice was it was too low. They'd scrape on almost anything.

They were just starting to get Fuel Injected Patrol Cars when I quit the PD.

I drove an AZHP Thunderbird Super Coup once. It was assigned to a friend from the Police Academy. It was a fantastic car with the full ground effects. The faster you went, the more it sucked down to the pavement. It handled like it was on rails.

I went to an Instructor's Course at GM Proving Grounds and we got to drive some really hot cars there.

Listen I came off a little harsh- I didnt mean a ll the MP's of the Army. I know there are a lot of good ones out there. However, where I was in the service they constantly busted our chops for nonsense. Major power trip. I recently went on a military post and the female MP was on a major power trip that I felt was really unprofessional. To me no, but to the cab driver who was driving me in the post.

Maybe you don't know the whole story. Maybe that MP has had problems with that cabbie before. As a civilian cop, I sometimes have to deal with a citizen/s that see me dealing with something that is an issue with past problems, and they want to pipe up, thinking they are calling out the evil police. Best thing you can do is mind yourself, and stay out of it. It's not your concern, you don't have all of the facts. If you witness something unlawful, that is a different matter, and you should report it to the MP Duty NCO or Officer.

Your absolutely right brotha. And Im a cop on the outside too- so no- I didnt know all the facts. And yes, this cabbie might have been the biggest pain in the ass to this MP several past times. But, it really rubbed me the wrong way and that fueled by what I remember in my time in the Army got me ****ed. And I assure you I wasnt getting involved AT ALL. The last thing I need is a problem with an MP as johnny civilian. I ll keep my 2 cents in my pocket.

hey all! a few centuries ago i was an mp, first female in my unit. all the oldtimer E-6's and E-7's busted my hump constantly. i realize i had to prove myself and there was no place for a woman in the army back then. i'm proud to say i was the first female that went in the same as i came out (NOT pregnant, NOT married and could kickass!)
Got to admit though, back then if someone was arrested on the outside they were given two choices, jail or the military. unfortunately they didnt screen the mos's these guys got to pick and a bunch of them ended up in the MP corps. There's one bad egg in every group (sorry if i use that saying too much - i'm new to this). Frown
