I'm interested in join the coast guard, specifically the PA rating. Im attending my first semester of college, my ultimate goal being to graduate with A bachelors in English-Creative Writing.

My question is can I even join the CG with the PA rating? from what I've read you guys make it seem like A 12-16 month wait is necesary?

If you want to be a PA in the Coast Guard you must put your name on the waiting list. Some rates you can learn on the job but with public affairs, that is not the case. The public affairs rate is one the rates that requires you to go to "A" school- our version of a job specific school. The wait to become a PA is usually around the time frame you mentioned since they don't take many per class.
