I would like to take the NOV08 FS1 SWE, I however currently lack 7 months of sea time required in order to be eligable. I was told that I could get a waiver for sea time if I am at a unit in which I will acquire all sea time necessary apon completion of my orders. I tried looking this info up, but was unsucessful in my findings. I also know that I will not be that competitive with the small amount of sea time that I currently have, but I figure what will it hurt to take it, if for nothing more than practice. If anyone knows about this waiver, or can give any info on this matter, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
FS2

Look in personnel manual and under advancements. I will be heavily surprised if you get a waiver for that many. It is possible if you orders to and under way unit and not have executed them yet and will be short by one or two months. I have see npeople with like 15 days short get denied.

This last December Master Chief Garrett was here in Hawaii for the FS Symposium. He specifically said, "THERE WILL BE NO WAIVERS FOR ADVANCEMENT". He said this regarding sea time especially.

Hope that helps.

Too bad there isn’t a force notes for FS’s to let the rest of the Coast Guard that wasn’t at the symposium. Oh well, thank goodness for ET and MK force notes.

Any thoughts on the test...EPME was easy, however I should have challenged one of the questions. Found the answer in the E-8 section of the manual. The FS was standard questions...think I did ok.

I would agree. I challenged two questions. One EPME and one FS. There was another FS question I wanted to challenge but didn't. It was about cutting. Was a typo with all the measurements, added an extra inch. You can definately tell this version was written by someone other than FSCS Lemelin. I took the ones that he wrote 3 or 4 times. Finally studied for this one, looking forward to the raw scores.

If FSCS Lemelin didn't write this one who did? Senior Chief is still the SMS and I am certain that he was the only writer on this test.

Maybe I was misinformed. I heard that the new course writer was at the CGDF of the year award ceremony.

You were not misinformed, I am the new course writer and I was at Denver but I do not start writing test until next month.
