I heard there was something in the works trying to increase the IDFSO pay from $75 to $175 about a month ago.. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything else about that.

I still do not understand this? I was on a 110 for two years, did not see a dime (I was one year too early) and now I am I/D on a River Tender doing the same paperwork and deal with more issues than I did on the PB and I don't get paid squat! At least when I was on the PB there was a set schedule and we had to get so many hours and going under or over wasn't an option. Here on the WLI we leave within a days notice or come back 4 days early and I have extra food onboard, but where's my extra $75-$175?

You are right and I am happy with that, but wouldn't you want the same pay for the same job? Why doesn't an IDFSO on land get an incentive? I think that job is more demanding than underway? Just questions/complaining, I am extremely happy doing what I do where I am able to do it and that is what matters most, I just think if they are going to hand out the cash, they should fair about it, and not just look toward the little white hulls!

Because when your pushed in on the river banks at night the PB guys are standing QMOW or doing boardings.

I've done both too, if you want that pay then get back on a PB. When I was at Sector I didn't complain about loosing my Sea Pay... That was then and this is now. There are far more important things to worry about. Like nuns and cans. This topic is dead. NEXT.

Oh; and since when does fair even come into the equation? I haven't used that phrase since I was 5. Come on man.

Well I guess I didn't mean to get on a nerve of yours, and this will die with this post. No worries, keep on cooking and working hard out there all of you and sooner or later it will all come around. Don't mistake my words "river life" is great and so was the "PB"! It's all what you make of it! Good luck and have fun!!

The Boutwell just completed a multi month deployment. Did they get extra pay?

I'm not a cook, but do know that long deployments can make a cooks job a lot tougher....keep the crew happy for MONTHS at a time? Tough to do.

Been on here 10 years or so. And I'm retired, so I have LOTS of time on my hands lately. Plus it is 113 here in AZ right now, so computer time beats the hell out of running around outside.

I wasn't trying to minimize the difficulty in being an IDFSO, just trying to gain some info on whether other's also get extra pay.

They got more sea pay- Larger cutter = higher sea pay. Additionally if married they got FSA; those members on independent duty rarely get FSA because they are on PB's or River tenders and aren't away long enough.

I got FSA for four patrols on EDISTO and HADDOCK.

It all depends on how long they are out.

Getting recalled on a Sunday sucks, no two ways about it. If you want IDFSO pay on a PB then get on a PB. They need more people that's fo sho!

Yes, as of 31 July a message went out stating that the IDFSO pay went to 150.00.

As for why there is pay for IDFSO's, and not for IDGM's, that is simple. There are far more 110' - 87' IDFSO's and the CG has trouble filling the billets with qualified people.

WHEC, WAGB, WMEC Acushnet, WMEC Alex Haley are level 1 sea pay. 210' and 270' WMEC are level 2. All others, PB's, river tenders, buoy tenders, etc. are level 3.

Think you have Level 1 and Level 3 reversed based on the Level Chart.

Ok as a 110 IDFSO I will try to explain this. We and the 87's are getting this because just a couple of years ago no one wanted these jobs. IDFSO's had no problems filling the land and river tender jobs. So this is an incentive to go to a patrol boat. Now before anyone says that is why I came here, I found out about this after I had it on my dream sheet(#1) and reported aboard.
By the way the billet Liberty out of Auke Bay AK is open next year if anyone is intrested.
