"I am not giving them hell. I am just describing it, and it seems like hell." Harry S Truman ![]() |
This Friday and Saturday evening on the Food Network's Emeril program:
Friday: Military Cook-Off -- Navy v. Army Saturday: Air Force, Marine and Coast Guard. (Emeril's Military Contest Contest winners from the Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard share their recipes.) 8:00 PM on the West Coast. Should probably check local times for your locale. ...gjd |

Just watched the show (DVR) and, yes, PO1 Russel's pumpkin pin looked and sounded delicious. Gotta try the recipe for Thanksgiving time.
On all the appearances, they should have let the "winners" cook (or at least participate in cooking), instead of leaving it to Emeril. ...gjd |

Stacey was pregnant when the show was taped. She is a great cook and one of the best FS1's that I have known, 8 years of awesome work, she is the real deal. The FS rate needs more FS1's like her, dedicated to both family and the job and doing great with both.

Great job representing the FS rating and the Coast Guard, FS1 Russell!
Where was the show filmed? Were the Coasties from your Sector? |

The show was filmed in NY at the Food Network Studio and most of the Coasties were from the Sector but some were from other units and cutters in the area. I tried to invite as many units as possible. There were coasties in attendance from Alaska, New York, Connecticut, Mass, and Virginia.

FS1 Russell great job, you are an outstanding FS. As for the knuckleheads saying stupid things on here, you need to learn from her and just maybe one day you will e as good as her. As for the cutters, she went from "A" school to the Munro.

She also missed pretty much the first three years of our daughters life, while being on the CGC Maple. She makes sacrifices for the Coast Guard just like every other outstanding performer, with no expectation of getting anything back.
It was an awesome show, and her tattoo is sick by the way. HSC |

Hey Chief Russell congrats to your wife! I think theres a good chance we may have crossed paths before, either up in the lakes icebreaking at some point, or perhaps at A school as it appears we were both there in the same timeframe? Give Dan Perkins a good boot in the azz for me, we're old buddies! (former academy clinic parolee)-Jeff Marshall |

I am sure some male coastie with a cuttermans pin might have shown another side (not the wonderful world of disney side )of the CoastGuard ! I also recall chief dallavallie putting in for a station in michican were he wanted to retire after doing time on the sassafrass u/w in hawaii they gave his station to some fs female chief who just did a recruiting assignment...nope i don't believe he would be feeling it either. What does all this have to do with Stacey being on Emeril? The fact is she entered, she won, she represented the Coast Guard well. There is no reason to drag all of this into this, she deserves a congratulations for a job well done, not all this crazy banter about back in the day. If you do not feel the need to apologize then don't. Stacey does not deserve to be treated this way and I know that you are a better person than your comments have made you seem. |

I agree! I think, though, that cooking on TV (even for a professional) is a whole different ballgame than simply cooking. Just watch the flubs and mis-steps of contestants on "The Next Food Network Star" now running on FoodTV. What seems easy, just often isn't. And Stacey deserves to be honored -- certainly not criticized for being pregnant! |

Space you spent all of your years as a first. Which is worse??? You’re calling a pregnant lady fat. Can you be anymore of an A$$? And you’re a cook who drives a forklift for a living. Like most people near their 100th birthday you sound like you have massive amounts of repressed anger against women. They proved that they are equal to men--> deal with it.. or die angry and wrong like many of the white old farts who hold the same opinions about you. You’re not a knuckle head and we do need more FS like you to stay afloat. On a side note I’ve notice your writing skill have improved 10 fold since you’ve started posting here many years ago. I enjoy your -the weekend- posts. You are out of line.. kinda pissed me off. Stacey is hands down the best young leader I’ve seen in our rating. Every time I visit her galley she inspires me. So even though I’ve enjoyed your comments in the past I gotta say----> Piss Off Spacecowboy |

You have also pissed me off. You are a retired first class, come on.
Second, she has not been TAD on a ship, She was on the CGC Munro (We usually start cutters with like that) and the CGC Maple. She is approx 4 months from a permanent cuttermans pin. Every one of her pregnancies, she has worked all the way up until the Doctor told her to stop putting her health at risk, and then took calls and even went in to assist with what ever was needed. She recieved the Honor of FS of the Year, she has been on Bobby Flay, and Emeril Live. She works extra hours, for all sorts of evolutions, including helping her staff at any time. The fact is you have generalized the wrong Coast Guard Member, Female or Male, FS1 Russell is an outstanding performer, and your you a retired bitter man to write what you have written. YOU ARE OUT OF LINE. How many time do we have to tell your old stubborn retired ars to stop. Find another page to write things about slackers, because you won't find them here!!!!!. He's an FS Doc, he frequents and contributes to this page alot. Telling him to go away isn't in keeping with the FS' habits of shooting our mouths off. And now for my pet peeve. It's The MUNRO, not monroe or munroe, or any other misconceived spelling. It's MUNRO!!!!!!!

Space- you did what a lot of poster's do which is change the topic. Instead of a simple "Oops, I didn't realize she was pregnant", you went on to bash her service. Speaking of which, if you really did watch the show, you would've clearly noticed the untucked maternity blouse.
As for comparing your service versus hers, what do you want? A medal? More recognition? I don't even know the FS1 personally but her reputation is well known in today's CG. If you look at things from perspective, 4.5+ years of sea time over 8 years is pretty impressive for a female FS considering the fewer afloat billets available for them. How about thinking about that? If you want to debate females versus male FS's, how about another thread for that? But for this thread, maybe a "congrats" and an apology for bashing her weight? |
