When grilling on a cg boat do you really need a fire watch? Best way to grill a steak, chicken, pork. Also best grill to buy?

Yes..weber does make a good grill..i believe there all good..never seen a bad one.

For my money..i like pork and chicken..better than steak...pork just has more flavor..and makes for a better bbq..i remember the CG base in canaveral used to smoke a whole pig..but they have not lately.

Disclaimer..lardman you know i am kidding i hope , i believe your sorta the soy sauce in the peppersteak gravy of these forums..you add a touch of flavor..most everyone loves picking on you..myself included..Allow me to be the first to say..thanks for hanging around..and for posting.

Coolsc

We don't hate ya man we love ya. Anyone who can suck in a BMCM hook line and sinker has got to have some talent. But it dosn't stop you from being an IDIOT.

charcoal is good..some like wood..i like my little wal-mart propane grill(25 dollars) on the screen porch ..its small and quick..and since cooking is not my full time occupation anymore ..it frees me up to do other things..besides you can't use charcoal on a screen porch..without risking burning the house down.

love not dealing with bugs..controlled enviroment...u/w i used matchlight..i would try to let the fire cool before throwing it over the side..sometimes helo ops or some other pesty project would cause me have to hurry ...it down the food shoot.

On the shorestations(i had 2)..i would line the bottom with aluminum foil..let cool w-odd up and throw away..as ez as 1. 2. 3.
Cool

I enjoy a gas grill for a variety of reasons.

1) It's convenient and time saving. You can toss a smoke box of whatever brand of wood chips under the grill grates and achieve the same smoky effect of charcoal or wood.

2) It annoys the southerner's who swear charcoal is the only way to grill. Not to mention that in their eyes, Yankee's don't know how to grill southern style. Ummm... 1950 called. They want their stereotypes back.

3) It annoys the southerners even more when my ribs, brisket, chicken or chops are better than their Aunt Daisy Mae's 10 hour charcoal method.

P.S. Southerner's, I'm just joking with you. It's all in good fun. Although, it does get old when some Alabama redneck raises his eyebrows in surprise when eating my ribs and then asks me "You sure you're from the north?" as if somehow rib making never made it north of Virginia.

LOL Tom you crack me up, You been in the south too long.

I like both but it all depends what i am grilling.

I HATE when somebody doesnt know how to properly light charcoal. if the coals arent white they arent ready, there should be no lighter fluid taste or smell in YOUR FOOD. People say thats flavor thats stupid!!

If i am grilling a couple pieces of steak or chicken then I like charcoal.

but like Tom said Gas is more convenient, You can control the temperture, dont have to wait for the coals, less clean up, and if your cooking alot of food lasts alot longer.

Actually you wouldnt be able to tell if it was charcoal or gas if it was done properly, the only way to tell is
1- Lighter fluid = Improperly lite of charcoal
2- its windy and ashes blew all over your dinner

other than that if done right there is no flavor from charcoal, ITS ALL IN YOUR MIND!

I'm on an '87 and I do about 80% of my cookin on the grill. I hate cookin on a darn hot plate that doesn't maintain a steady (quickly adjustable) temperature. I have a char-broil at home, can't remember for sure but I think I have a Weber on the boat. The most important thing to remember when buying a GAS grill is to try and find yourself one with CAST IRON burners and grill plates. The heating elements will last longer and you won't have to worry about replacing them as often. My dad has had his Char-Broil for almost 30 yrs and has only had to replace the elements ONCE...has yet to replace the grill plates!!!
