I have a few question that I hope is not bothersome to answer.
When I went to bootcamp our YN offered us if anyone was interested in getting a guaranteed A school for the AET rate. I got really excited because Aviation was where I wanted to go from the beggining when I signed up. So I picked up the guaranteed School, the problem that happened is that our YN did not really explain to me and another shipmate that we were suppose to go get our flight physicals done that same week. anyways to make a long story short our guaranteed "A" Schools where taken away and we got shipped off. Ive been at a small boat station now for 14 months and its been a really stressfull time trying to get my flight physical together and getting on the list period. Now finally thank god my flight physical is done and approved and I have been on the list since JAN08. Im now at #36 and im just wondering when the detailer cuts orders to the Airman Program? I know the AN Program is 4 months prior to the class date, so do the orders come out when the top 20 on the list are cleared for the AN program and then the name clears? or do they wait till your done with the AN program before the names come off the list? To those that are in aviation rates, What number on the list where you when you got AN program orders? I guess that would give me a good eestimate.
I did alot of research on the epm2 websites but cant really figure out how the order to An program are cut. From my rough calculation Im hoping to report to the An program in Aug08 or Oct08 but im not entirely sure. If someone could give me some insight on this whole process I would definately appreciate it.
Im just really curious to know when I would be expecting orders to go to the AN program. Its been a long and hectic year for me and my wife and im really anxious to persue my dream and go on to become a petty officer. THANK YOU.
Usually, if you are about #20 or lower, you should get orders in 1-2 months for AET, now this was over 2 years ago so it might have changed since then.(I was #17 when I got my orders) It also depends on how big the classes are for that particular period(i.e. I was in a double class with 14-15 students each) Your name is removed when you recieve orders to the Airman program and then you go to school 3-4 months thereafter. If you get married during the airman program and then go to A School is it more likely that you will get stationed as a 3rd back at the unit you completed your airman program at? Or does that not have any bearing on where you are stationed after A school?
the only thing that will do is send you to A school TAD vice pcs like the single guys in the airman program.
this does not however mean you will return to that station after completion of a school for anything other then check out and pcs to your new unit. if you want one unit vice another do good in school and get the 1st pick out of your class that is all you can hope for.
