I didnt think this was a recruting question so I posted here. And excuses my name. I made it a year ago when I wanted to join the Air Force. My mind is on the Coast Guard now. With my ASVAB score (70) I qualified for all three aviation ratings. The one I'm looking at is AET. And it says I have to go through an Airman Program and pass some physical. Can someone explain those to me. I tried to search for it myself but I cant find any place that tells me what each one is.

Also, if anyone wants to give me some information on the AET rate I can leave you my email address. Thanks!

AET is a great rating! Here is a link that explains some of the basics about the airman program and aircrew candidate physicals. http://www.uscg.mil/cgpc/epm/AO/AirmanProgram.asp

Like it says, the airman program is a four month on-the-job training (OJT) program. It is an evaluation period in which you have an opportunity to show that you can function safely and productively in the aviation work environment.

The aircrew candidate physical is performed by a flight surgeon to confirm that your body meets the established requirements.

I hope that helps.

To add to that, the airman program sylabus is online. You can look up what it entails and what you will be required to know and do.
