Basic Training |
My husband is in the process of going AET and his flight physical just got approved along with everything else he needs. We looked at the list for A-school a couple weeks ago and there was nothing next to his name, so we know he is ok to go. His "higher up" told him that he was report to the airman program in late March, but we have not recieved orders yet. My question is, How long do you they give you when you get orders and when you have to report? It will be coming up on 60 days soon on when we have to report, or I guess I should say when he has to report to the airstation. Does his "higher-up" really know he has to be there that date, or is he just guessing?
Another question is How often do they go on deployments? I have read it is only for 2 weeks at a time. Is this true? (I am just trying to prepare myself mentally for what is to come. Also DH doesnt really know the answers) If anyone can point me in the right direction on getting some information about what AET's do exactly, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You Jenn |

He will be receiving his orders shortly. Don't worry...
In terms of deployments, it really depends on what airframe he chooses. Some airframes at certain units never deploy, others deploy rarely, and some deploy often. He will be expected to stay overnight at least once a week, some times twice. This is nothing compared to the folks who spend months at sea away from their families. Thank your lucky stars he got in now, because I have heard that the "A" School may be closing up soon. |
