I hate tests designed to make you feel stupid. Anyway, how long before we can expect to receive raw scores? Given i am looking to go from 3rd to 2nd, it isn't likely to matter a whole lot, but i am still anxious to know how i did and how it compares to the norm.

Great!

Well....there is some importance on how well you did. (Never assume the list will be cleared!!) You (or anyone else going from E4 to E5) should hope you come out towards the top of the list and get promoted on Jan 1st '09. Assuming you're a hard charger and motivated, that will set you up to be eligible to take the May09 AET1 SWE. If you do not promote to E5 on Jan 1st, you will have to wait till the Nov09 SWE. It's the 1 year TIR requirement (from E5 to E6) that is the factor on what plays out.

Good luck!

The test isn't designed to make you feel stupid, but it does a great job at it none the less. Don't fret about the score too much. I wrote the #1 test for E5 with an 81, and the #30 test for E6 with an 86.

You ought to get the raw scores in a month or so; plenty of time to have some good laughs before the final multiples come out a little while later.

My advice, and this is highly subjective mind you, is to not worry about your first couple of tests and don't get mad that it was a game of Trivial Pursuit.

Thanks guys, i appreciate the advice, but i still hate waiting. At least with stuff like EPME and other exams, you know your score right away. I am extra nervous right now because i also applied for OCS and the selection board met this week. I'm just a little jittery and impatient about all this since there's a lot riding on it. I never assumed the list would be cleared though. I studied my *** off, i just apparently didn't study the right things. I only read over the E-5 EPME stuff, i forgot to read the e-3 and 4 stuff as well. I read the entire 13020 and 3710 as well, but there were not very many questions out of those manuals. I had 3 questions on a Marconi test set i have never used for instance, so i kind of felt cheated a little but. Oh well, i'll have to take it for a learning experience. Thanks guys.

Dude if you are worried about your test score for AET2 then obviously you have not been in the rate for more than a minute and probably not ready to make second. The list has been cleared without any published cuts for the last 3 years. Instead of reading the entire 13020 or 3710 you should learn your job first!! As long as you filled in the little bubbles under your name and social correctly you will make it. Congrats

Don't worry it was my first time taking the SWE as well. I focused much of my attention on my rate specific stuff, mainly the material for NOV 08 EOCT. Nothing I studied was on that test except the E-5 EPME info. Don't worry I'm sure you did better than me.

Dude Wink....nothing is for sure anymore. The flood gates have been open for a long time and at some point it will end. Part of the job for an AET2/3 (actually all airdales) is reading the 3710, 13020.1, PG's, 505, AFTO's, etc.

Just a knarly observation from having been on both sides of the tube...err.."wave"! Big Grin

Yeah but even though the list has been cleared for the past three years the gravy train is definitely about to slow down. How many 1sts did they make off the last service wide? Half a dozen? That and I hear the wait list for "A" school is up to 32 weeks now so call me crazy but I think it'll happen this SWE or the next where they will just stop clearing the list.

I guess my radical surfer dude speak isn't that great. Last time I tried surfing was back in the late 60's, early 70's on a long board. Never was any good although I did have good toes for hanging 10! Dude out.... Big Grin

The reason the last cuts were lower than the prior ones are twofold. 1st is that we are losing some 1500 series Herc's this year and second is that we are finally catching up on all the billets the AET's got a few years ago in the latest round of rate of consolidation. It's good for the rate though as it will reward those who really apply themselves to taking the SWE. Everyone I've seen walking out of the E5 SWE were left a little beaten up and that's normal. Chances are you don't have alot of experience with the SWE's but don't worry about it, it's normal. Keep studying the manuals as well as learning your rate, everyday at work you should learn something whether it's how to troubleshoot an electrical problem or why your latest travel claim got kicked back. Just look at it as a learning experience, write down as many questions as you can remember and then research them, I guarantee you that you will see those questions again on another test.

Also, if I remember correctly, last SWE's raw scores were out in a matter of a couple of weeks so keep checking in Direct Access for your test scores.

DH asked me to take a minute and see if any other RAW scores were posted yet.

He tested for E7 and the scores he knows from his station are 87, 88, and 89.

Any other scores out there?
