Do aviation ratings get weekends off in the coast guard?, I only ask because I see they work long hours and there has to be aircraft available 24/7 incase of any emergency.
Most units have 4 duty sections so you will have duty every 4th day, either a standby, aircrew of sorts or line crew. If your duty falls on a weekend, you are usually compensated with a "slider". If you have duty on saturday, you get sunday and monday off, or if you have duty on sunday, you have friday and saturday off. This is all with the blessing of your shop Chief depending on work load. The revolving duty sections allow us to keep crews at the base 24/7 on a revolving basis. Hope this helps.
Wow we have become way to politically correct for us not to jump all over this person for the title of the post, even if it was not meant to sound like it did.
Do we get weekends off????? The answer is yes once you become a recruiter.
Pdidie i hear that. Come on aviation or not we are in the USCG we work all the time. On a normal basis we get weekends off but I'm sure most of us have answered that phone and kicked ourselve in the butt all the way to work. It's the job we get paid for. Come on why do we need to sugar coat this answer.
It was not all day it was only 13 hours. I guess when day shift came in they thought I was just warming it up, but not shure what they thought when they left. Nights must have thought I was just warming it up as well?????
