Unfortunately, it's not set up at "A" school for members to bring their spouses. Upon departing your husbands currents airstation on the 31st day at "A" school, he will get FSA (family separation allowance) which is 250$/mo. If for some reason you do go to Elizabeth City to live there while he is at school well then it is required that you notify his YN's because if not his FSA could be recouped later on and you will have to repay. So to answer your question---you can always go with him but you cannot stay with him in the barracks or anything like that. Members going to "A" school are encouraged to not bring their families and/or spouses. Hope this helps.

I would (and when I was in charge of my last unit's airman program, did) recommend against you going. A-School isn't tough, but having the family there can lead to a lot of personal distractions. It's also a good-sized monetary hit, as you'll have to pay for housing out of pocket... rather than him going there TAD and still collecting BAH/BAS for you staying home (unless this has changed recently).

I have stayed in the doughnut three times for different schools. I have never brought my wife with me. Instead I have her visit me half way through. That way I have time to set up rental of a trailer through MWR, and a rental car through USAA(rent from the airport, it's usually cheaper.) I find this breaks up the time away to more managable chuncks. Hope this gives you an idea.

Thanks so much, ok I have another question, would I be able to just move back home and still get the BAH and whatnot or do I have to stay at where he does his airman? Thanks

Moving back home has worked for some spouses in the past but I would suggest calling or meeting with your Airman's Leading Chief and asking these questions if you are getting mixed answers. Not knowing your housing circumstances (on base, government lease, rental), it is hard to make suggestions. If you are currently living on the economy, you can usually live where you want and still collect BAH for your Airman's permanent duty station. There are things like insurance paperwork issues to consider (Tricare has different regions). Problems may also arise when school is over and you have to find a place to live again or just a place for your Airman to stay for a few weeks if being assigned to another unit.
Again, a call or meeting with the Leading Chief should clear things up. Make sure to do this through the chain of command though! Your Airman's supervisor or mentor should be able to help work your questions up the chain.

You will get BAH regardless---he is married and therefore will be TAD at school. That does not change.
