Ok you guys if my husband could see me know he would be ashamed. I dont know a whole lot about how things work. I know he took the May 08 exam and ranked 11 however I know that can change. Has it been posted how many they will make in 09 and the official number that a person is on the list of is it to early. Im trying to find out if he will for sure make it sometime in 09. He took the MKCS, his name is Harold Patrick. oh please forgive me for being so stupid to all this stuff. If someone would like to set me straight I would appreciate that.

To be honest i wish my wife cared about this stuff. For the 08 cuts they are not out yet. You will see an explosion of posts when that does happen so you will not really need to ask about it in the future. Trust me you will know. as for the the explination, it is not actually dependant on a number at all but a name. So for example they will announce a name (i.e. your husband) that is the cut. Him, and anyone higher on the list than that announced name is garunteed to make it next year provided they are still eligible. However it is easier to think it terms of numbers so most people will tell you that 11 is the cut becuase that is what place he/she placed on the list (11 out of 120 for ex). even though 2-3 of those people may no longer be on the list and they are in actuality only making 8-9.
but barring that stuff at this point you might as well sit back and relax and check this website every few hours like the rest of those waiting that do not have access to the CG intranet. Although if it holds true to last year you will not see the 08 cuts till at the soonest next month.

i think she is asking what the average number for the cut has been in the past so that she has an idea if he might be in that range. i hope this helps you in finding your answer.
When it comes to MKCS numbers can be decieving, as many retire or turn down advancement due to not really wanting to take the jobs MKCS comes with. Many people are unwilling to take the star because the perception is it comes with a set of orders to a 378. So the cut may have been 27 but in reallity less than that actually advanced to E-8. My 2 cents worth is if he is willing take the jobs offered by the detailer he has a very good chance at MKCS at #11.
