I went through and answered all that I knew 100% that I had correct. I then went back and counted them before I continued with the ones that I was uneasy on. I counted 125. So if I take another 10-15 off to account for misreading or misunderstanding/buffer then I should write around 110-115 or better.

I was able to remember and look up 88 questions, after completing the test. Of these 88, I missed 13. I hope that this ratio holds true with the remaining 62 questions I did not remember.
Interesting results above. The avg RAW score for an E-7 SWE is high 70s to low 80s. I think there is a pretty good chance that a fair number of the folks that thought they got 120 or higher RAW score might just be in for a shock when the scores come out! Actually - the 80% above that thought they scored higher than 90 might be shocked! With the way the SWEs are written, anything higher than a 75 is an acceptable score.

MC are saying that it is impossible to get over 100 on an E-7 SWE, and why are the SWE's for E-7 written they way you explained?
It's not impossible, just highy unlikely. When I made HSC, the average raw score was a 69! Now, that was a harder than normal test, but still...
I agree with MC, those who think they got over 100 may be in for a real surprise. The only rate I know of that routinly score in the hundreds is the ASTs, and that's becuase someone has to die for you to advance!
Good luck to all and don't get too downhearted when you get our score. Remember this...it doesn't matter how well you do, it only matters how poorly everyone else did on the SWE.
Chris; I wasn't going to bring up any one specific rating, but since you opened the door, your year did good! Last May, the average test score for the 120 people that took HSC was 43. Just so noone thinks there was typos, that is ONE HUNDRED TWENTY PEOPLE and a avg raw of FORTY THREE. (Note: In theory, if you pick a letter and answer every single question with that letter, you will get 37.5 questions right!)
LCOOL; To answer your question, I will be a pain in the arse like most good Chiefs and ask you one: What good would a test be where the majority scored 90+%? The SWE is not a process by which we see if you know ENOUGH to be advanced. That is what happened with your EPQs and EOCTs. The purpose of a SWE is one thing and one thing only: To rank order everyone who has already been found 100% qualified, capable and ready to be advanced to the next grade in their rating. (This is not an E-7 SWE thing, it is a SWE thing)
By the way - as I was typing this, I got an email saying that RAW scores are starting to be posted in DA as we speak. Now - not everyones are in, but as the exams are graded, the scores are going in!

Last HSC SWE was a real bear indeed. There were questions that blew my mind, obviously by my raw score. I studied hard and I had a raw score of 49. The year before an 88 (very little study), this year a 105 (much more studying than previous years combined). How the test is written is a concern for the test writer but it should be fair. I am not a course writer so I cannot attest to the rhyme or reason involved in question selection, only that it is typically based on all epme's and rate specific practical factors and accumulatively. We can see that how the test is written does effect raw scores overall. You can study your arse off but if you study the wrong things, well, your numbers will reflect that, same as if you don't study at all. Although one question was specifically taken from the E-8 EPME and was sorta unfair, (the Malcom Baldridge Award question), the rest of them were relative to the HSC job. Most of the questions just not really everyday, common working knowledge. It isn't that these types of questions do not come up in the clinic but it is the reason why we write all this stuff down in manuals. Sticking to the EPME's and rate specific practical factors and references with a decent amount of study time one should do well.
