Everyone who is eligible and recomended, is automatically sent a PDE and a Test to their Testing Center. It does not, in any way, an indication of your placement (in regards to the cut) of the last test taken. As soon as the May 07 cuts come out, you can decide whether or not to take the upcoming Nov SWE.
My advise: Always take an available test. You will not be penilized or dropped down on the previous list (May 07). If you are above the May 07 Cut-You Will Be Promoted, even if you do poorly on Nov 07. If you are above the May 07 cut and you take the Nov 07 SWE, you probably will be deleted from the Nov 07 SWE List.

Thanks a ton Smirfy - this really clears things up. I was under the impression that because I got a PDE for NOV07, that I had missed the initial cuts, even though they weren't posted.
I really appreciate it.

Correct, except that when the May 07 cuts come out, you do NOT need to take the Nov SWE if you fall above the cut. No need to take it "just in case" something happens. Being above the cut is a guaranteed advancement as long as you remain eligible. quote: 6. PERSONNEL WHO APPEAR ABOVE THE CUTOFF ON A SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST ARE GUARANTEED ADVANCEMENT IF THEY REMAIN ELIGIBLE. HOWEVER, THESE PERSONNEL ARE CONSIDERED NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FURTHER SWE COMPETITION UNTIL THEY ADVANCE OFF THIS SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST. THOSE PERSONNEL PLACING BELOW THE CUTOFFS, PROVIDING THEY REMAIN ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE, WILL BE MAILED A SWE FOR THE SAME PAY GRADE FOR SUBSEQUENT COMPETITION AND ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. IN KEEPING WITH THE INTENT OF THIS POLICY, PERSONNEL WHO APPEAR ON TWO SWE ADVANCEMENT LISTS AND ARE EITHER OFFERED ADVANCEMENT OR IDENTIFIED FOR ADVANCEMENT FROM THE EARLIER SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST AS A RESULT OF A REVISION TO THE CUTOFFS, ARE REMOVED FROM THE LATER SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST IN WHICH THEY COMPETED.

Your right, but if the test is available-take it. This will help you prep for the next pay-grade SWE. The more SWE you take, the better you will be taking them. I know some people that fall just below the cut, and don't take the next SWE, with the hope that they get picked up on the revised cut. Not always the case.
