I am planning to take the NOV SWE for MK2 and looked at the Sept. list and see that they are still taking people from the NOV08 SWE.

If I take the NOV 09 test, will they have to clear or make a cutoff on the MAY09 list before they even taking people from the NOV list?

I did read a message saying that the NOV08 test had a cutoff at #138.

I am just trying to figure out how long of a wait I will expect to even think about E-5...

Well the way it works is kinda like this.
November SWE advancment generally starts April/May and can run until Dec.
May SWE advancements generally start
Jan, and runs until April..

It is a very slow process..

So the November SWE gets 8 months to advance from the list, while the May SWE only gets 4? I'm not sure about that one.

And yes it is slow. I find it hard to believe that it takes months to grade a Scantron test and post results, while any other EOCT takes 2 minutes to score and get an email (and results posted in Direct Access!).

Well this is definitley wrong information. The May SWE Starts advancing Janurary 1st through June unless for E-7 and above which would Jan-Dec, Then the November starts advancing July 1st through December. Each SWE advances for 6 months unless the list before has been cleared. Even though they reached the cuts they can and will keep advancing until the end of the cycle as long as they have spots to fill. The only thing the cutoff means is if you are above the cut then they have to advance you from that list before they begin the next list. Other than that they can advance past the cut as far as they want. If you take they November SWE don't expect the advancing to begin until July of the next year. If they start early then great.

And If they start early there will be a ALCGEN message authorizing early advancements for that particular one.

Also, it doesn't happen as often but, carry overs can add to the "slow".
