I feel bad for a couple friends who didn't make it as well as everyone who has been watching this thread like a hawk, well I'm officially making second class next month, and to all who were expecting advancements this month don't worry that just makes you a step closer make sure to get your crows sewn on in advance though, you don't want to move up in rank and still walk around in your previous paygrade crows because you didn't foresee the inevitable.

What is stopping E-6 and Above from advancing?
If there are no vacancies, then the cut should have been at minimal, not in the 30s(ET1), 45(ETC).

Not a good year for the Technical Rates.
I feel bad for everyone below me. They're going to have to get frocked for transfer season, at this rate.

Show me the Money, mama needs a new pair of shoes.

In December they went 4 places beyond the revised cutoff for FS1 yet in Jan and Feb they have failed to make any, that kinda sux for some of us but oh well, I guess we will keep on keeping on. Oh, who's going to be the brave one to open the March advancement message thread?, should be a good one...

I guess it saves money or something. Who knows.
Good luck, it will come. Smile

I remember, I also took the 2005 ETC SWE.
It took me this long to get to #5, myself.

I am bit tired of being patient. I think I'll try the new IS rate out. That sounds like fun.

For fear of sounding like an idiot, if they advance all the way to the cut what happens next? Do they continue past the cut on the current list or move to the November eligibility list? I'm hearing both from folks here at work. I am specifically speaking of the HS2 list. They made it to the revised cut in one shot and being only a few beyond that, I'm just wondering if I should pick up some 2nd class crows before getting underway next month.

ALCOAST 016/08

"7. Once a rate on the May 2007 swe advancement eligibility list is cleared, CGPC-epm is auth to advance personnel to fill vacancies using the Nov 2007 SWE advancement eligibility list for that rate. Mbrs appearing on the Nov 2007 SWE advancement eligibility list, who would normally meet the time in grade and sea duty requirements by 1 July 2008, will be granted a waiver of those requirements for the purpose of advancing earlier. This waiver applies only to those personnel appearing on the SWE advancement eligibility list. It does not apply to prerequisites for supplemental list placement."

i.e. They will promote past the cut, until the May 2007 list is exhausted. If you are only a few spots beyond the revised cut, and they have already promoted to that point (this early); then you might want to get your uniform ready for your next patrol. Hey, Congrats.

I don't believe it is a rate lock-up or lack of vacancies. If you have looked at all the other rates the last few months, the same thing has occurred.

YNS- little to no promotions
IT- no ITCs promoted from May 07, only a few IT1
FS1/FSC- None from May 07
MK1/MKC- None from May 07
EMC- None from May 07
ETC- None from May 07
ET1-3, before Jan
BMC- None from May 07

Looks like they are waiting for some extra cash, before promoting the Senior Enlisted and non-critical rates. Others have rejected that theory before, but that is what it is looking like. No money, doesn't just affect unit spending. If not for a lack of money, then strategic spending is occurring.

There might be about a 1000 members (okay maybe not that many) above the May 07 cut, and the promotions off their list have not even been started yet either. Your not alone.

Thanks for the help Smirfy...like I said, for fear of sounding like an idiot. I suppose I could have taken the time to read the messages that are put out.

I am concerned that they have promoted all the way to the cut in one fell swoop for HS2. Maybe they've locked it up for the May eligibility list. Either way, I suppose I could put out the cash to have some 2nd class crows sewn on one ODU.

Thanks again for the information.
