about 6 months ago the commodore held meetings with all pay grades. During the e-5 meeting he asked how many people would recommend PATFOR to thier freinds in the coast guard. Less than 5% said they would. Of those 5%, 100% had been there less than 5 months. Of course that was when monomoy was inport, and at that point monomoy was miserable enough for all of PATFOR under the Tiranicle Rule of then CO (Look for other discussions about that POS being relieved). PATFOR has great potentiontail, but it is extremely easy for JO's and other people with a little rank to **** it up for the masses your best bet is to make local friends and stay away from americans. Find some European or Asian chicks.

...Wow, what a fabulous way to refer to a commissioned officer, like them or not.

...or just denounce your citizenship, that should alleviate the problem permanently.

wow, I am on a cutter here in bahrain and I bet that ak_coastie has great marks when it comes to supporting his/her command. Maybe instead of bi&^%ing about your JO's you should support and give them help and guidence when you see something f&^%ed up instead of sitting on your a$$. Just like any other billet in the coast guard its what you make of it.
Oh by the way did you take the service wide ak? I hope my marks multiple is higher than your!!!

I just got back from the Baranof last week, a long year but totally worth it. The meeting that was held by the commodore did not go over well, but the majority of people who were there were shore side and a few cutters, the person who had the most to say in a negative way was an MK2 shore side who is looking to get out. That being said they were write about a lot of what was said, but it stays in the meeting. The tour is worth every minute and I would not let any one else make the decision for me, live it for yourself.

Has anyone seen orders for PDT in September yet? I'm slated for fall deployment shore side and have only seen orders for PATFORSWA, nothing for training. Thanks

Did you guys get your passports yet? If you are having problems with the CG go through the air force. Make sure you have your online passport info already filled out, that will make things alot quicker. Also make sure it is a Red passport not a blue(civilian). The air force did mine and it only took about 3 weeks to get it.

Good luck to all of you taking the plunge and going to the sandbox. Try not to get voted off the island and make the best of your tour there. Return safely with all of the sea stories you can collect but most of all return HOME!! Thank you for your service

Got a quick question for those of us going over there and those of you who are already there. What is SCDC "C" school? My yo-yo told me it would be a good idea to have that C school before I left for PDT

I am currently over here on one of the boats. I came off a 110 in the states and I can say that the op tempo is crazy compared to the states. It's a pretty easy job, and to get a priority 1 it's well worth it. If you have a family it could be hard. As far as PDT, take it all with a grain of salt. Almost everything you learn there will not be used over here.

EASY??? Are we playing in the same sandbox...LOL. I can safely say this is going to be one of the hardest working tours I will have, but at the same time I know it will be one of the best. And yes, most of what in PDT will not be used....hopefully!
