Did any other Pri 3's get orders from way down in their picks, say outside your top 10, that just happened to be close to, or in the same location as your current job?
I'm curious as to how much the new policy of keeping people close to or in the same locations to save money is affecting us this year.

I am getting tansfered from Beautiful Bayonne Nj to Baltimore Md. That was #4 on my list and I believe that is fairly close and within the criteria the detailers are using to transfer personnel this year. Obviously there is absolutly no way they will be able transfer everyone within that criteria but I imagine a majority will.

the way my CO explained it to us was that if anyone asked for an extension (even those who would normally have to compete) the detailers would entertain those requests first. with more people getting extensions than normal, that should save the money that was cut from the budget. one thing that you have to remember.... when a member transfers, it doesnt really matter too much if they go 1 state away, or 20 states away.... the cost difference is minimal. with that in mind, they are trying to keep as many people within the same locality code as they can. AND.... if its on your list, regardless of #1 or #100.... bottom line, you DID ask for it.

The budget constraints that would possibly affect the AY-09 transfer season are a non-issue now. If they need you in Bora-Bora, away you go. Priority is but one piece of the puzzle, and I would NOT want the detailers job to figure it all out.

That's technically true, but realistically anything outside the top 10 or so are only on there because, they tell you to submit a "realistic" E-resume, and no one wants the dreaded "You didn't get anything on your list" E-mail. If I had put only the nine jobs I actually wanted, I might be even worse off than I am now!

well, in order to have a "realistic" resume, you need to take everything into consideration. i have NEVER submitted more than 6 picks on my resumes..... and the lowest pick i have ever gotten was a #4. im going on my 5th unit now, so i just dont understand why people have issues with the process. of course, maybe my fear of land units is what helps me out.

Well it sounds like you have it all figured out, I'm glad the system has worked so well for you. BTW 8 of my top ten were cutters, and I ended up ashore, so "fear of land" doesn't always work.
