Is there any chance a MK3 outta "A" school could get stationed to PATFOR SWA? I've got a secret clearance, and I could probably get my weapon quals outta the way before I leave (I'm a 5 year AET3, changing rates...)
Thanks!

I would say yes. That would all depend when you graduate, etc. Speak with your advisor and see if you/he can contact the detailer and see what he says

A lot would depend on your prior history. Are you a BTM have you ever been a EOW are you an EMT. If you have no quals other then a secret clearance, I would say no. When I have talked to my MK3's and FN asking to go over seas we needed to make sure all of there quals got up to date before requesting. It's only a 01 year billet so having all your quals in hand before arriving makes you a better "hire" for a lack of better words. There is nothing wrong with asking and if they say no try for a 110' get those quals and ask again when you get make 2nd.

I was EOW 4 years ago on the SAGINAW (Construction Tender). Been to EMT school, but did not test for state cert. If my wife signs on to this whole idea, I plan on working hard for my BTM quals at the small boat station across the parking lot.
When you are at PDT how much time off is there? My wife would still be living here in E-city and she wants to know how much (like weekends and such) we can see each other before we leave...

There was an MK2 with me over there who had never been underway before. He was qualified rather quickly. There was also another MK1 over there with me who had never been U/W as well on another boat. So don't go based that you have never been qualified, they will teach you over there.
During PDT it's all up in the air. Take some leave before you go and you will most likely, but not deffinate, have time before you deploy. Being in Ecity you will be close enough to the Portsmouth that you can just drive home every night if you want. My wife was in Murfreesboro and I would drive home every weekend, unless I had training. You also have training at Blackwater's Facility so that will be closer to Ecity as well.
Firehound, shoot me an email on Outlook. I'll explain everything to you since I just got back December 10th.

Glad to see you guys are doing homework before going. Don't forget to get info for your SO's. There is a place called Coastie Chicks on the net that has a specific PATFORSWA section. It is well monitored and the folks on there are great for info and support for those supporting you from Stateside. All of yoube safe over there.
