So, today I tanked my SWE. Now I don't blame anyone except for myself for not studying better, but would it have killed them to put some MK1 course material on there? I felt like I was taking the MK2 test...that of course is new since I last took it. One thing that really ****ed me off was the EPME section. How can they test you on material that they no longer publish? Based on the new EPME's, there was materiel on there from the version the discontinued last year. That sucked. If I'm wrong, then I'm the idiot....but that's my perception of it. Let's hope they don't lock up this rate soon.

You never know, once you get your raw score it could be awesome. Myself on the other hand felt that the study guides on the the website were pretty helpful but you never know. I guess we will find out in a few weeks.

The EPME portion of the test was 100% different than the May 08 SWE. I am still trying to find out where they pulled the questions from. 90% of the questions that I had were not in my EPME study guide! No questions on the CG participation in wars or CG heros but smoking in housing questions were present?!?!?! Mad

Another thing, did it seem like there were only a few EPME questions? In May I think there were around 25 and now it was like 20.

I'm still 99% certin that the EPME questions on the SWE are from the OLD EPME test. I think they changed it earlier this year. The new "journeyman" guide that they have avaliable on the EPME site only has about 3 question from it on the test. I submitted the challenge sheet about the EPME portion, don't know if it will work, but it's messed up to test you on publications that are no longer being used. I really hated the USCG politic supporter question. It should have stated "As a USCG member IN UNIFORM."

The EPME questions were from the new EPME study guide that came out just a few months ago, and alot of them came from the E-3/E-4 study guide because I just gave training to my non-rates on it recently. There were 25 EPME questions like usual. I think I did okay, i didn't study at all. The electrical section killed me.

I totally agree with the political question as it should have been a member in uniform and I also wish someone could tell me the color of the 4th wire!!! How rediculous was that?

Does anyone remember the question about: What else do you change when changing the needle valve in a carbuerator? I put spring, but can't find it anywhere in the books. Is that right?

I even asked the EM's at my unit about the color of the fourth conductor.... they had no idea! Is there an actual answer to that question?
