I got the orders the day after the deadline for the first solicitation. If you got it, you should have heard something by now.

Amynah, something you must know right out the gate is your husbands CO's primary concern is to ensure her unit is mission capible. I congratulate you and your husband on his advancement. But....... What needs to be understood is your husband's unit is not over billeted by 2 extra MK1s. It's the case of 2 MK1s are filling MK2 billets most likely due to advancements. If the detailer transfers your husband now he has not solved his Critical fill issue, he has only moved his problem from Mk1 to MK2. Because now he will need to fill your husbands MK2 billet with someone who may not be qualifed thus putting the station CO in a possible situation of either not meeting mission readiess or placing unnessesary stress on the rest of her crew. It is tough for you to do but there is a big picture in mind. PleAse disreguard spelling misstakes as I am replying on my iphone and these keys are small. Sometimes this type of information is lost in translation.

Please don't take this wrong but it's got to be said- It would not be a very wise choice to "just go around the command" especially on this kind of situation- it can possibly bite him in the rear- not right at the moment either---- remember those JO's become SO's and could one day become his boss again, and that would make for a long tour there too. second point is even if he did go around I am 99% sure the Detailer wouldn't touch it since there is no CO endorsement.
just my .2 from a retired Chief.

Actually he COULD have cut him orders but did you both a favor by not doing so. Now it is your turn to be patient and let the CG AND YOUR HUSBAND deal with it. I've known many husbands that learned of the birth of their child while at sea. The military does the best it can. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to the individual but there may be other things involved that neither you nor your husband are aware of.

I would take the job at sector Hampton Roads. But sense i am at BO school now (as a student) i dont think i could have a chance to apply for it. However It would be a nice change of pace from Hot TX to VA. Was at the ANT team there a few years back and most say the area is not all that bad.

I fully appreciate how difficult it can be when a person is married to a service member. I have a sister-inlaw that I think deserves sainthood for spending 30 years packing, moving, unpacking....while raising 4 children. And that includes the year where she was in the midst of a move only to discover the plan had chnaged ahd her husband, father of four, was off to Nam for a year. Sorry you thought I was being insensitive. Merely trying to point out that a spouse posting on here may actually inadvertently cause some problems while trying to solve them.

Like with many things, you have to be there for the laying of the Keel, but you don't have to be there for the launching.

MKsmurf, My senior chief just told me that the detailer emailed back and said i wasn't eligible because i was tour complete in AY12. Although the message states in paragraph 4, " If there are no volunteers, members tour complete in AY10 and AY11 will be considered." So i guess i'm a little confused. Hopefully no one else put in for it.
