Wrote #27 this past May with a 93. As a young MK I really needed to buck the system so the entire herd of Dinosaurs didn't pass me. I ordered all the new courses, MK3, MK2, MK1. Then ordered EM3, EM2. I pulled all the quizzes out of the books and categorized them(Aux, Main Prop, Outboards, Elect, etc) in a binder. I also found some schematic drawings on the web for electrical symbols, there are a bunch in the test. Study the EPM CD constantly. It is a very good tool and if you are in to history you should do well. I studied all that starting in Jan. at least 1 hour per night on something different. The week before the SWE I took a week of leave and studied every day while the wife took the 3 year old and went shopping. Take ALL the time allotted while taking your test. Dont be rushed by the guys who are finished in 20 minutes, chances are they didn't do to well. Good Luck to all.
SWE CONSISTS OF 125 QUESTIONS FROM MK RELATED MATERIAL 25 EPME. THE MAIN PART OF YOUR FOCUS SHOULD BE THE MK MATERIAL. LIKE AN EARLIER POST SAID LOOK AT THE PRACTICAL FACTORS AND REFERENCES LISTED. GET OUT THE NSTM'S AND M9000.6E AND LOOK EVERYTHING UP. I BOUGHT A VOICE RECORDER FOR MY IPOD AND READ QUESTIONS ALOUD THEN WAITED 5 SECONDS AND READ THE ANSWER, ADDITIONALLY CREATED OVER 1000 CUE CARDS. EVERY TIME YOU COMMUTE TO WORK HOOK UP THE I POD AND LISTEN TO YOUR STUDY NOTES, EVERY TIME YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AND HAVE TO WAIT BREAK OUT THE CUE CARDS. DO ALL THIS WHEN YOU HAVE TIME AND SPEND 1-2 HOURS A NIGHT CREATING MORE NOTES AND CARDS. THERE ARE ALWAYS 1-3 QUESTIONS IDENTIFYING DIFFERENT MILITARY BRANCHES RANKS IN THE EPME. GOOD LUCK.
