I'd shoot myself before going back to that boat. Anyways before long the title will be Officer Mike of ICE. Immigration Customs Enforcements. My package is in Atlanta right now, hopefully transfer over. Anyways my marks from there got amended.lol.
I am stationed on the Alex Haley and I can tell you that it is a great platform for the mission that we perform out in the Bering. The ride is good, and I am talking from the perspective of a Bering Sea sailor, on average we encounter 20 to 30 foot seas and you would not know it inside the skin of the ship. The engineering plant is extremely reliable, but with that we at times have to take up the slack of the broken cutters out there. This makes for a little bit longer patrols than your average WMEC, but the Alex Haley is a unique cutter in its class.
She use to ride alot better before they put that oil rig and radar on top. Hard to believe the Haley is reliable. I remember non stop repairs, many long days and nights. The hard work from the past and present crews must be paying off. Tony
That boat was always broke I don't ever think it was reliable. Just glad I don't have to be shook up in the middle of the night anymore to repair that POS. Defintely wouldn't recommend it at all even though Kodiak was really cool.
Im looking at PATFORSWA as an option. Just dont know if it will be as an MK1 or MKC. I am waiting for the revised list to see if they make at least 13 more. I have heard by a source that a revision may be out around Novemeber time frame due to the many "0" and the other factors as stated in the message from MCPOCG. Lets wait and see.
My job here at ANT Coos Bay(MK1-EPO) is open for 2008. Its a great job. The town isnt that stellar, but what can you do with a bunch of wanna be rednecks and meth heads. Good crew, good command and just overall a job you dont wake up to saying "I hate my job".
I am looking at PATFORSWA if possible, and anything I can get afloat. I have been shoreside too many years now for my tastes.
