Mr. Roberts,
I am currently an E-4 priority 5 however I should be making E-5 on 01APR09 seeing how I am number 20 on the list. For my E-resume I only put E-5 billets and I have not heard anything yet. How do I look at this point.

Mr. Roberts,

I recently had to resubmit my Eresume with all MK1 picks. Would it be safe to guess that I won't see orders until the cuts come out?

Sir I noticed that there are still approx. 11 EPO jobs (MKC & MK1)that have not been filled. Is an early slate for EPO's being considered. It seems to work well for the OINC & XPO positions.

Good Morning Everyone! We are still very deep in the King's Business, but I wanted to post something that I replied to in a different thread for everyone's usage.

We will be answering the most recent questions once things calm down here in the Engineroom, but I am sure this will be useful.

Question: I've always heard that you could deny your first set of orders cut to a new unit but the second set is where you're going regardless. Can anyone shed some light on this, is there something in writing that states it or is it only a rumor?

Answer: The answer to your question is actually quite simple. Yes, you can refuse to obliserv if you are not on an indefinite reenlistment. If this is the case, then your command will need to send a message stating your refusal to obliserv. At this point, we will send a message back stating one of several different things:
1. Execute your orders
2. Orders are canx - stay at unit until EOE
3. Orders are canx and new orders issued elsewhere until EOE
- All these will come with a note that states mbr cannot reenlist without prior EPM-1 approval.

If you have already obligated service, then you will execute your order. Remember, these are orders and not invitations.

If you are on indefinite reenlistment with more than 10 but less then 20, then you can SILO, provided the message is sent within 15 calendar days of issuance of PCS orders.

If you are retirement eligible you can RILO provided the message is sent within the 15 calendar days of issuance of PCS orders.

SILO/RILO's are considered on a case-by-case basis meaning that it could be approved or disapproved based on Service Need

Have a Nice Day

I would like a position at PATFORSWA in 2010. Afloat or Ashore. Can I get some guidance on what steps I need to take to apply? Will my unit receive a replacement before I go to pre-deployment training?

Happy Friday My Fellow Engineers,
UNBELIEVABLE! WE DID IT! Another Assignment Season is in the books. Orders are on the board for all MK's, with the exception of a few vacancies that pop up due to numerous issues. Hopefull, we have not made too many people angry in the process, but I guess you can't make everyone happy! For those of you that have recently advanced and have not transferred due to your advancement, please keep in mind that we may be contacting you at a later date to fill one of these vacancies. #1 thing to remember concerning SWE's - We advance to fill vacancies!
The MK rating is in the best shape, number wise, that we have seen in years. You can see this by checking out the RFMC's Snipe Tracks, as well as how many positions have been filled so far compared to the past several seasons. Another great indicator would be the Advancement List and the recent cuts.
I would like to answer some questions that have popped up recently here on the board, but I also wanted to let you know that we will be following this posting with an AY09 lessons learned post in the upcoming future.

PsychobillyMotorhead: First let me say that the numbers that you posted at the time were incorrect. Although orders did not show on the board, there were quite a few EPO's going through an EPO board process. There were actually less than a handful of positions that we were still attempting to fill during that timeframe. I would also beg to differ concerning the OINC/XPO's as they were still looking for backfills at the end as well. To answer your question, though, we are looking at the possible pros and cons of an early slating process. Although, it may take care of several positions in the beginning, it is our belief that it will never eliminate all of the EPO vacancies and we will always be in the same position that we were in at the end of the assignment season due to a multiple of reasons. Here are just a handful:
1. Biggest difference between the two is the need for XPO/OINC positions for advancement purposes, where it is not a ticket to punch for the MK rate.
2. Another hurdle is the experience factor for qualified candidates. Not every candidate necessarily has the best background to be an EPO at one unit or another.
3. EPO's choose positions based on Geographical needs and not for professional needs. We attempt to get the member the highest pick on their E-Resume, which does not always include the EPO position. OINC's/XPO's are selected and directed regardless of their desire of unit.
4. There are never enough qualified candidates for the amount of positions that are shopped.
5. Advancements!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are just to name a few! A different thought that we are batting around that with the early slate process, we can at least streamline the EPO packages process therefore significantly reducing the delay in the slating process during the assignment season.

cbotello - I applaud your desire to serve in PAT4. There will be message traffic closer to the beginning of the next assignment season that will describe the application process for you. We select the best qualified candidates for the job. It is never a guarantee that we will get the unit a backfill prior to your departure, although we do our best. Please review our PATFORSWA website, which gives a pretty decent rundown concerning the assignment.

militia1 - Thanks! Honestly, it really means a lot. We have received a lot of communication from all across the board about how much everyone has enjoyed our updates and insight. We are glad of the continued success and hope to keep the open lines of communication with the fleet.

Liberty Liberty Liberty, libery is hereby granted to the crew. The Engine Room hopes that you have a safe weekend and a safe summer.

I'm a MK3 reservist looking to go active. I was told that there aren't any MK3 billets out there any more. I'm really just checking if anyone has heard about that. I'm crewman on the 41 & 25 and i'm also BTM qual as well.

Hello, Thefireburns - It is very difficult for an MK3 to integrate into Active Duty due to the current rate/rank strength. We are approximately at 110% for MK3's. To be honest, if I needed an MK3 to fill a vacancy - I would just send somebody from the "factory". The best chance you have would be to advance to MK2, or even MK1. Historically, these ranks are the ones that have the most critical fill vacancies come open at any given time. Keep in touch with your recruiter, as this is the avenue that you would use to integrate into Active Duty. One last thought, once you are able to integrate into Active duty, we assign you based on Service Needs not on location request.

Did the last revision for MKC off the May 08 SWE take into account all the people who had been carried over and advanced from the May 07 SWE list?

Thefireburns:
I completed the integration process as an MK3 myself two years ago. There are never guarentees because it is based on the needs of the sevice, but I may be able to answer any questions you have on the process. Please feel free to send me an e-mail.

Sir,
Is it completely unheard of to be slated into a 1st class billet onboard a WMEC if you are currently at a WMEC MAT and are qualified through Main Prop Watch and this particular transfer would be no-cost? I have all my requirements/tests done for MK1 I just need the sea time & SWE. Thank you in advance

Great question jcoasty and in this day in age of trying to save money sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately I don't think EPM/current assignment process would allow that; your not actually on the advancement list.

You never know what the detailers might say, good luck.
