I have a smattering of things I've put together, plus stuff I've picked up here and there. Got me past the EOCT and an 88 raw score on the SWE.

How about this for a study guide? STUDY THE MATERIAL AND DONT BE LAZY. For whoever is sending study guides, you are only going to be helping lazy mk2's compete with hard working mk2's on the next SWE so thanks alot. Let them get it on thier own.

My study guide was every MK3/2/1 book and E-PME manual. Not the smartest fella around but it got me a 90 so I'll take it

HAH no bitterness here gears, although I learned talking smack from the best. Im just saying. It took me 6 times to pass this new test because I had to actually read through the material. Not the smartest, but I made it. If there was an mk2 who is sending out study guides to our competition for the SWE, that isn't the smartest thing, considering you would be watering down the SWE for every one else.

Wouldn't matter anyway, they change the test up on a regular basis.

Not talking about the test itself, and people knowing the answers to the SWE. I'm talking about the number of people taking the test. As long as your'e eligible, you are on that list no matter what after taking it. All i'm saying is that it leads to the watering down of the rate if people are trying to hurry to make 1st.

Oh, like when they waived the SWE for MK1 a few years ago? THAT is watered down...

You are absolutely right, and im really glad they brought the SWE back for us. How many of you have seen BM's that have fast tracked to BM1 and only been at 1 unit? Then they get underway and are like whaaaa? this is the coast guard? I never hope that people talk about MK's like that, baby faced MK1's and what not.

If the individual is not ready for the next step, its the responsibility of there supervisor to not recommned that individual for advancement.

But we all know more often than not, that isn't the way it happens. Not many people are willing to halt someone's career path unless that member is a dirtbag, and even then there is hesitation.
