Looking for information for testing CATCOOL. Heard that caterpillar sells its own testing kit. Anyone using it? If so could I get some info on it? Thanks much in advance!
I am on a 210 and we use Cat Extended Life 50/50 Premix 0n all our gens and small boats. The Cat test kit is very easy to use but a little pricey, it comes with 10 tests. Here is the Noun Name and P/N Cat ELC Dilution Test Kit P/N 223-9116.
Here is some more info on the test. It tests RA reserve alkalinity and for contamination. It doesn't give you any numbers just a color chart to go by. Basicaly you just use the supplied syringe and tubing to pull your sample, then you dip the RA test strip into the coolant and match it up on the color chart. Depending on the color determines which test vial you will use for the contaminattion test. The contamination test requires 5ml of coolant. This goes into the vial you shake for 15 seconds then dip the contamination strip and match up to the color chart and it will tell you if it passes or fails. Hope this helps.
ATG tried to give us grief a few years ago but i showed them the page out the 9000 and highlighted the section on 50/50 premix. Also it depends on what your PMS card calls for. Our PMS on the EDG does not state what we have to use so that is what won the argument. The PMS card for the SSDG's specifically call out for the CAT 50/50. --------------------------

I know this conversations been over for a few months but we just order sample bottles from cat then mail them in. It tells you if there is any contamination as far as metal particals, or if there is any other problems.
