Seriously thinking about going to the dark side....I know, let it rain with hate. Just wondering if anyone out there has known any prior MK's that went to OCS, if so any horror stories or experience with training. I can't think of it as being too bad, hoping 17 weeks of BS is worth it.
I only know of one. ENS Marino he was an A school instructor until 2005 and went to OCS. I now work with an MK1 who was his friend and he says that he still tries to get in the engine room and roll his sleeves up on the 378 but the CWO lets him have it. I'm told he pushes paper now, and ther is nothing wrong with that.
An MK2 that worked for me went to OCS last year. I'm pretty sure that he's glad he did it. I can try to hook you up with him if you'd like. Send me an email if you're interested.
I didn't go to OCS but I did get commissioned in the Army and retired after 22 years. Its' a different world being an officer - some things better, some things not as good.
I personally believe that we need more prior enlisted personnel to become officers in all of the services.
