hey all. im currently a non rate on a 110, i have been here for about 2 months. i have a desire to go to iraq, and im wondering if its too late for me to get assigned there as a non rate, or if they would shorten my current tour and send me there before i go to A school? that might seem like a dumb question to some of you but i figured someone out there would have the answer. thanks in advance

Your best bet (probably the only one) is going to be to watch the ALCGENL posts on the CGWEB/CGCENTRAL. If they need guys they will put out solicitation for Non-Rates. I think they just had one a few months ago, but it fills up quick. My advice to you would be to look for the old message soliciting non-rates, find out everything required to put your name in the mix. Gather all the information they would need and have all your paperwork, admin stuff, etc ready to submit to your chain of command. That way the next time a solicitation comes out you have all you ducks in a row and you can turn your chit in ASAP. Good luck.

I wouldnt wait for a solicitation I would already put in the request to go. The next Pre deployment class starts in Feb and another in March? I am just finishing six months in the sand box and we need as many good non rates as we can get.

Mr. Roberts is the Ao for PATFORSWA, He takes year around solicitations for the sand box. Go to his site and it will have a run down on what is required for applying for the solicitation.
