I'm an AET3 making the transfer to MK. (I've been permanently medically grounded.) I have exactly 1 year left on my initial 6 year commitment. I tried to extend my enlistment before submitting my 'A' school chit, but my YN's told me the system would not take a re-enlistment unless I was within 3 months of the end of my enlistment. I want to get to school ASAP, and I don't want to get hung up getting put on hold due to looking like I'm a short-timer. What can I do to extend my enlistment so that I'm well in the clear of the minimum required service after leaving 'A' school? (I plan to re-up for 4 years... and go for 20 in the long run.)
Oh, yea... does anyone know if there are any bonuses available when I re-enlist?
The answer is yes there is a bonus, the persru yeoman should brief you on this at time of re-enlistment. Don't worry about the obliserve or re-enlistment, it will not change your standings on the list and it only takes about a day to do the paperwork. Good luck in the MK world. MKC sends
Like Chief said, don't worry about obliserv at this point. Nobody even knows what your obliserv is until you recieve orders to school. Once you get orders, then the obliserv extension will happen. I would hold of on the re-enlist until after A-School. You can not get a bonus as an aviator now and you can not get one as an MK until you ARE an MK.
