The port engine will not go past 2300 rpm, we changed to full filters and we don't see air bubbles in the sight glass. Anybody know what this could be?

A silly thing to check, but switch the tachs on the engines. We had one once that worked perfectly up to a certain RPM and then stopped rising. It just kind of floated around that RPM so everyone thought it was working fine. We switched the tachs and suddenly the other engine only went to that certain RPM.

If it isn’t the tach, may your problem be just as simple.

Check your RPMS with a hand Tach first
If still off then you need check the following.
1. Ensure your Teleflex cables are not slipping at the engine conection or under the console
2. Try disconecting the cable and pushing the throttle lever forward manually
3. Check the prop on that side. As little as a 1/4" tweek in one of the blades has shown to reduce rpms drastically. (note it will not have a vibration)
4. If that all fails then try replacing your fuel pump/gov.

Is the hull clean, I have seen as much as 300 rpms from a dirty hull. When was a tune up done last. Might even want to sound the keel. Have seen water get into them as well.

Agree with snipe check your teleflex cables, run the engine up by hand with cable disconnected and check with hand tach. If you still not making speed you need to CASREP your fuel pump. I had to replace two for the same symptoms you are describing many years ago. Good Luck

Bad idea to think this! If the boat is having problems and it costs money to get it running properly, then there is ALWAYS money available to get it fixed. If it warrants a CASREP, then that is the first step in getting money. After this, your local Sector should be able to help out with funds. If not, then TRUST ME, someone will foot the bill to repair the boat. You just need to have your Command use their resources!

Hey man,
Definately look at your cables as well as your RPM's with a hand tach. A 903 if I remember correctly should spin up to almost 3,000 rpm's with no load on it. Try it both ways, disengage the twin disc by pulling the morse control out and putting down to the console. see what your RPM's are. Then disconnect your throttle cable on the gov and ramp her up by hand.

Also, what color is your exhaust smoke?

Agree with everything above, If your hand tach shows 2600 +/- 50rpm, than drop down the Plate in the compartment and use a jewelery screwdriver and look for a small hole in the back of the tach and adjust to see if that helps. I have had luck with that.

If you are getting 26kts it is probably the tach, if not, clean the bottom. This is the time of the year when growth is the worst.
