Just be careful over there and get back safely when you're done. Please?
Thank you both for the good luck...as for the priority assignment when i get back MC...i think im gonna use it to get some of the "sweeter" sea duty, such as a big bouy or construction tender..maybe a 110. I dont know, havent ever been under way but all the good testimonials of the black hulls cant be wrong! Plus im gonna be a MC one day too so im gonna need the sea time for advancing quickly, Ha!
Don't worry about it over there. I just got back from my year deployment this past December. Unless something crazy happens in the region you should be fine. Take PDT with a grain of salt, as the majority of the information is only pertinant if something goes wrong over there. The heat is pretty bad, but bearable. If you will be land side in Bahrain, you will have opportunities to get U/W onboard the 110's and maybe even a Navy PB. There are certain areas to stay out of in Bahrain, and in Kuwait it isn't as much of a deal because you can't leave the base unless it's FOUO like to go to AJ for example. They drive pretty crazy out there so be careful. Besides that, it's not a bad place. If you are married like I am, it's a little hard, but you can make it. Good Luck and if you have any mor questions just shoot me an email.
Yeah, I keep hearing alot of the same things about PDT...Like that its all very "what if" and specific circumstance based. I'm not married so that makes it easier. But as far as being landside...what are the perks and downsides? and if i do get underway TDY with a PB or Navy ship, does the sea time count towards credited advancement sea-time as if i were PCS on a cutter?
You are busting your butt for the most part on landside whenever the boats are in. You are also spending more money on food and entertainment because you are on land. You have to spend some time in Kuwait, and it is HOT there. Perks, you don't get sea sick! You also get to go to all the events, like the Formula 1 races. If you get underway then the time does count for promotion, etc.
Don't waste your money on the pearl diving, it's def. not worth it. The diamonds are not as cheap there as in the carribean, but they are cheaper than in the US. Hope that you get to stay in *******, and not in the *******. When you get in country get the phone number to *******. He is the taxi driver that we call if we need a ride. PAY ATTENTION TO CURFEW!!! Also don't go to the off limits locations. Stay away from the Wrangler Hotel (you'll find out more about it over there).
If I think of anything else, I'll let you konw.
There, the names have been removed. I understand why, but to me it's a little redundant because it isn't like we are all spead out. But I agree, forgive me mentioning names!
