Last year my wife an I attended the change of command ceremony and stayed at the La Mer Beachfront Inn in Cape May. We had an ocean view with a balcony right next to the beach. It's close to the base and located in a nice quiet area. We really enjoyed it.
Check it out at "www.capemaylamer.com"

Once you are active duty you can call the Morale office there in Cape May and rent one of the temporary lodging they have on base. It has everything and cheap.

I have stayed at Constitution Hall several times. Very interesting place and very historical.

Thank you to all for the suggestions.
dcalltheway - I am going to be a reservist, will I have access to rent lodging at the base after I graduate training?
I appreciate your help.

I truly do not know, if you type in Training Center Cape May, then go to permenant party, then MWR it should give you all the regulations if anything a phone number. Hope this helps!

Staying on base may be cheaper, but I'd stay off base and be a tourist. I think you'll enjoy your stay more, especially after being stuck on the base for 8 weeks.
Good Luck!

I have stayed in guest quarters here in Cape May and while it is cheap, I would go out on the economy, you have to check in on Friday and leave on Monday, no one is there over the weekend, also they dont give you blankets, just a garbage bag full of sheets, and I thought it was uncomfortable, but its up to you...
