For nominally priced military lodging, try the Navy Lodge on Staten Island ($90/night) or
Fort Hamilton Army Lodging (from $54/night). If you don't have a car, both are accessible via public transportation (the Army Lodging facility is easier to get to). Reservations: (1) Navy Lodge: Ph: 718-442-0413 Website: https://www.navy-lodge.com/ (Search for Lodge by Clicking on "Find A Lodge" link at the top of the page) (2) Army Lodging: Ph: 718-439-2340 Website: http://www.fthamiltonmwr.com/ (Click on Lodging link in the center of the page) The Navy Lodge has a breathtaking view of the Verrazano Narrows (Bridge) and Lower New York Bay. Fort Hamilton Army Lodging is superb. They provide continental breakfast, whereas Navy Lodge doesn't. You may get lodging for less in Manhattan, but IMHO and generally speaking, it isn't nice. v/r Mark Lewack (MTSCS, ret.) Frederick, MD |

Stayed at the Omni, and the Pierre, both were great ... Pierre is beautiful, old world inside.

Just made reservations at Hotel 91 on the Lower East Side for $219.00 a night. Not awesome, but better than $400.00.
I also cleared this through a retired FBI Agent who spent 10 years in NYC and is from there. He said it was a great area with some of the best Chinese food you will ever get. I read a bunch of comments on Expedia and all were good. Hope that helps. |

Also, if you go and use the hotel I suggested, let me know how it was. I am going in October.

I work on Ft. Wadsworth and the Navy Lodge is great. The price is spot on for the area. It is an easy ride to the Ferry by bus or Taxi. The ferry ride is only 20 minutes and it's free. When we had a conference here last year I booked everyone in the W hotel right across from the Waldorf and it wasn't too bad. That hotel is in the center of almost everything if you want to stay at a stellar hotel in midtown.

Although all the above suggestions were good ones, I may have the trump card.
Exclusive military Hotel in the heart of the city: http://www.ssmaclub.org/. Stayed here several times and loved it. Can't beat the prices, location and histroy of the hotel. I don't suggest staying on Staten Island. To cross the bridge it's $10 toll, ferry brings you to the finacial district and theres nothing to do there. You'd spend most of your money just trying to get someware if you stay in SI. Put yourself right smack in the city. Hope this helps. OS1 Brooklyn Native. |

Try using the Armed Forces Vacation Club. I think the Manhatten Club offers a pretty good price.

The Coast Guard has several units on Staten Island that are for rent. Check it out at this link: http://www.uscg.mil/mwr/lodging/FtWadsworth.asp
