If anyone could name a few for me. And not coast guard isalnd or anything, doesnt even have to be coast guard related. Im planning a trip with the lady friend, and im looking for bases with hotels on them, cause they are a lot cheaper and aren't that bad.
She says im cheap cause of it, but im smart. So we can spend more cash on stuff. She has never been to CA, and im from there.
I plan on flying to Vegas to visit family, then vegas to San Diego, and i know the Sub base at Pt loma has hotel lodging, and im sure 32nd does too. I have friends there anyway, and we are going to palm springs, LA, ect. and im set there. And then taking the amtrak train up to Oakland to see the Coast Line.
I just havent been to San Fran in ages, and def not since ive been in the guard. So any help would be thanked. Im sure alot of the bases have all those tickets to like "the rock" and stuff. for cheap and what not too, im just trying to plan this out cheap and smart. So any help would be thanked.
Id post this in the travel section in the main forums, but its dead as a door knob and there are no better people to ask for advice then a fellow coastie.
Check out the Marine Memorial Hotel in downtown San Francisco, if you're active duty. It's in a great location, is a superb hotel, and the active duty rates are great!
Anyone know if the small, military lodging on TRACEN Petaluma is still in existance. Stayed there for nearly a week about a thousand years ago (in the early seventies), and I seem to recall that it still might be there. It was only a few rooms - less than a dozen at that time.
Trevor, As was mentioned, the Marine's Memorial Club in Union square is outstanding - if you want to stay in SF, you're not going to find a cheaper 4 star hotel in the city. Their website is www.marineclub.com If you're looking elsewhere - there is also a Navy Lodge down in Monterey, about an hour or so south of S.F. Good luck, and enjoy the Bay Area!
