The navy base where the Station is has housing but last time I was there they only gave it to USCG CPOs. I had housing at Tyndel Airforce base wich was awsome.Tyndal is about a Half hour away from the station and is very comfortable with awsome secluded white sand beaches with no hotels. Just Nature!!Commissary,Schools,exchange gym ect.I felt like I was in the Air Force they treated me so well! However the rent is not bad. The Further you get from PCB the cheaper it is.I dont know much about buying but alot of my friends had pretty nice pads!! Last time I checked the BAH actually covered the rent and Utilities. You are so lucky to be going there. Panama City is awsome. Spent 5 years there. Did not want to leave.Tried to go back but its not happening!
Gary- I left PC just a little over a year ago. Half of my tour there was as an E-6 and I was able to comfortably make ends meet living on the economy (renting). If you have kids in school I'd recommend living in Panama City Beach over Panama City as the schools are better. I've never been a big fan of govt housing and have opt to live off base everywhere I've been.
