These geniuses got confused in the dark and attacked a French navy frigate - thinking it was a merchant ship. In fact, it was the flagship no less! You have to wonder at what point did they realize that their world was about to change dramatically?

I think the Rules of Engagement should be as soon as one of those skiffs fires on a ship, it gets raked with fire and no looking for survivors.

Navies used to used "Q" ships. They were very heavily armed merchant ships, used as raiders. They looked like a normal freighter, until it was too late.
A few of these cruising off the coast of East Africa would make short work of the pirates. Pretty soon, they'd be afraid to approach any ship, not knowing if it was armed or not. |
