Sorry folks, not a Mod currently and I was at work when this happened.

We had folks on the Russian gazprom domain a little earlier this year picking Emails out of posts and then using info they gleaned from this website to send messages to the Emails they found asking for money. It was pretty obvious it was a scam to me and obvious they got my aliased yahoo Email from Military.com (under my avatar) because thats the only place I used that specific yahoo mailbox.

So I sent the info to Military.com management and they traced at least one of the guys down via gazprom and from what I understand banned the guy.

Just a word to the wise here. Large Internet firms have interlocking business relationships with Google and Yahoo, your not anonymous with a @gmail or @yahoo or even a @gazprom email address IF you do something stupid. The Internet firm I work at has those business relationships so I am not making this up. So many people think they are a secret poster or something and this crap happens. Its one reason why MOST discussion forums require a Email address at registration. With your email they can track you down pretty easily via their existing business relationships if push comes to shove.

So some of the Ukrainians or Russians that were caught or banned in the past scam might be a little upset or pizzed (heh-heh).
