The Army will correct your Military Records and/or Upgrade your Discharge if you submit an application to do so.
Applications to do so are submitted via the online Army Review Boards Agency website located here (ACTS Online), this is now how ABCMR (Army Board of Correction of Military Records) requests are submitted: https://secureweb.hqda.pentagon.mil/ACTS_Online/gui/landing.aspx Once you create a account you will be prequalified to either upgrade your discharge within the last 15 years (Form DD293) or Apply for a Correction of Military Records (Form DD149) Both forms are electronic and you will be asked a series of questions during the completion process with any NO answer taking you out of the application. The account you create is fairly generic and is created only for purposes of securing the information and communicating with you directly. Army Reg detailing the ABCMR (Army Board of Correction of Military Records): http://www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r15_185.pdf Any soldier in the Army, National Guard, Army Reserve or any discharged veteran can use this online system to correct DoD Military records IF they have already exhausted administrative process already. The definition of exhausting the administrative process is outlined for you during form submission. The threshold is set pretty low for junior enlisted soldiers and it's basically using your CoC all the way to Bn S1 (or is it S2....I can never remember...lol). Two examples of use are: 1. Obtaining a change in enlisted rank that should have been granted at the MEPS prior to ship date for college credits at the time. If the change is approved your military records will be backdated to reflect your new rank and backpay will normally be paid. 2. Upgrading or issuing a medal awarded during a period of service (administrative oversight, no entry in records, individual qualifies for a higher medal). Examples might be Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Lapel Pin, etc. Good Luck! This message has been edited. Last edited by: ErichG2, |
