I recieved the German Schutzenschnur (gold) award while I was deployed in Aghanistan, and I've looked all over the internet, but can't find where or how to buy it. Does anyone out there have a link to a website that sells these badges?! Please help. . . Thanks!!!
Here ya' go...
Schutzenschnur @ Ranger Joes
SPC, US Army
or you can try
I wanted to thank you very much for the info on Ranger Joes website. I was stationed in Schwetzingen, West Germany from 72-75 and I had gone to Worms and qualified with the German Army for the Schutzenschnur in Bronze. I moved several times, and while I still have my award
hung up on a wall, I had lost the actual medal. Ive been looking on ebay and different places, and the euro exchange rate wasnt favorable enough for me to want to pay over 50 bucks to some place in Europe to buy one.
I only remember firing a P-38 type pistol in .380 caliber and a UZI 9mm machine gun, I dont remember firing a rifle (I own a K-98 with eagle and circle underneath still intact) and the way that thing kicks, I would never forget that! Its been so long, I got out in 75 when I was 20 years old, and now im 54, so I dont remember how I scored, but ive always been a very good shot, I have expert on all my military records and DD214, but I got the Bronze in German Marksmanship? I could understand a German guy shooing one of our .45's, not shooting too well
but the P-38 is a fairly good weapon. In Connecticut, the ranges I go to only allow me to shoot 200 yards tops, but I bought a Rock River Arms CAR-15 that has a wilson barrel and special weights in stock, and the whole thing is so heavy, its not a "Matel is Swell" special
but its made to go out to 600 yards. I have a red dot scope on it, and wow!!!! I reload my own ammo, and I have a Kimber Target II that is just too good to be true. Sure beats the stuff I fired in the Army back in Ft Dix during basic training. I sure did like those 2 LAWS rockets I got to fire though, they were the kewlest things I ever got to shoot.
Im just gonna keep rambling on here, change the subject and go for it......
I have a son who is a police officer in the Air Force stationed at Kirkland AFB guarding Nukes for the past year and a half, and my youngest is just finishing up high school, and is signed up on the delayed entry program to start basic on July 29th, and then stay in place and go through Ranger school. I loved it when I asked him " So Son, did you take up helocoptor repair so you can get a job at Sikorski's when you rotate back to the world?"
"No Dad, I went Ranger for 4 year enlistment" Oh well, I guess I made my Mom pretty scared when I went in during Nam, but my Dad who was in the 4th Marine Division on Iwo Jima
looked at me joining the Army as if I had taken off to Canada or something......Gee Wiz
Well thanks for your help in getting the German Medal, I appreciate it very much

Question for you guys, I received the silver schützenschnur while in the army; I am considering going into the air force reserves, can I wear the the badge with my air force uniform?
You're asking the wrong forum.

Who the hell would want to wear an AF uniform? Besides posers at Ft Benning! LOL
Hey I think a Schutzenschnur was the only thing that guy was missing lol.
They sell them in Clothing Sales at Ft. Knox - probably lots of others.
