I'm sure most of you have seen that PEO soldier is finally fielding new uniforms to some troops in A-stan as a replacement. MultiCam and UCP-Delta. Why they're so insistant on the ACU-style camo I'll never know, but the UCP is a simple varient away. They've decided that adding Coyote-brown will make all the ACU's camoflauge difficulties disappear like MultiCam does just about anywhere you stand. Firstly, the UCP looks like trash. Literaly. If you haven't seen it, you don't want too. I thought ACU's looked funny. Besides purple urban camo, this is probably the worst looking camo I have ever seen. I don't know why they are so unwilling to admit the superiority of the MultiCam pattern. Special Forces units already utilize it, why can't the rest of the Army? If it's good enough for them, why not everyone else? You can read about it at http://www.armytimes.com/news/...my_new_camo_091409w/ At least we're getting new uniforms! Aren't you excited? I just spent a load of cash getting these and I can't wait to spend a few hundred more on new uniforms. Why can't we just wear olive drab if they're gonna keep changing the uniform patterns? I like it. It's green...

Jeez. UCP looks like somebody barfed up their bean burritos all over the digicams. That's totally ate up.

It kind of looks like German flecktarn (sp) camo. Only worse. Jesus, I wonder when someone will finally say enough is enough and kill this damn UCP program.

All the UCP is is Urban Track camo that's been digitized with the black removed. I don't under$tand why anyone would think that all you have to do i$ remove the black from an urban camo and digitize it then all of a $udden it'$ univer$al.

Here's the UCP Delta uniform that will be tested by a battalion.

With ACU body Armor

Without Armor

Another battalion will be testing out the Multicam Uniform.

I hope we either go with the multicam uniform, or go with the Marines current uniform, without the EGA of course.

MultiCam would be so nice.I love that stuff. I've got a set just because and it works a hellofalot betteer than ACUs. Here, I'll post some samples. Or would, if I knew how to post from my computer.

Wow, seriously? That looks like a set of ACUs after a day of combatives in the mud.

I almost don't care about the color pattern anymore (almost), just as long as they get rid of all this God awful hook and pile (velcro).

That gets a Hooah from me too. It's sloppy. The worst is the velcro on the cargo pockets. WTF? That doesn't even make sense. The shoulder pocket closures should have been buttons too. Name and Branch and rank should still be sown on. I don't mind the shoulder velcro so much, but the amount that they have on the uniform makes it ineffective. I don't need to be able too pull my name tapes, and certainly not my branch tape, and only my rank, when I get a new one. Why did they make that velcro in the first place? And what ever happened to noise disipline? Ok so we're not all snipers who require absolute quiet, but it still makes me cringe with all the noise that it makes.

After further review, I despise the UCP-Delta. Which means the Army will most certainly select it.

I also despise UCP-delta and love MultiCam and I am also therefore convinced that the high ranking ****tards who decide this **** will choose UCP-delta.
MultiCam is the only pattern I can think of that looks like it would blend in A-stan and also here in Korea.

I think multicam is better because of its ability to blend with shades it is put against. It may not be completly universal, no camo is, but if you use certain equiment, equipment most people have, it belds in very well to both woodland and desert. If you wear more green with multicam, the pattern shows more green. If you wear tan equipment, it shows of its natural browns more. I think they might as well use multicam since it already is widely produced. It would be easy to get a contract, since Crye Percision designed it for the Army anyways...

According to PEO Soldier, MARPAT works better than UCP or MULTICAM in their tests.

Well this why we need a garrison/feild training uniform in OD or kaki and then have multiple deployment uniforms based on theater.

Woodland
desert
urban
winter
mountain
etc.

Heck they "plus up" everyone with uniforms at the MOB sites anyways, really easy to make that plus up theater specific.

The one size fits all concept clearly doesn't work.

This is correct!! I know the goal is to save a buck, but in the long run you'll loose millions. The Army's ACU concept was dead on arrival, yet they stuck with it since careers AND other people money was involved... They should have pulled the plug on the ACU program BEFORE they fielded that uniform.

I'm not a fan of each service having its own camouflage AND I think that the Marine current uniforms, both woodland and desert ARE the best patterns currently out there AND this should be the standard... Think of all the money that would be saved by doing this!!

If the Army still whats to have its own pattern, than I hope that they go with the Multi-Cam version. If the brass still want to waste money, than waste it on the new dress blues since they to suck... Trash the white shirt and go with a khaki shirt.

...Yes, I know we're not the Marines, but they have the right ideal(s) on their uniforms!!!

Seems the medium green uniform the Israelis wear works well. The multi cam to me looks like it has the same basic shade of green from a distance

Truthfully, I don't care what it's made of just as long as it does the job.
